The We Are Family Foundation (WAFF) The Challenge WAFF celebrates the vision of a global family by creating programs that inspire & educate people about mutual respect, understanding, & appreciation of cultural diversity. One such program has WAFF partnered with the Lollipop Theater, to bringing 1st run films to terminally & chronically ill children in hospitals nationwide. WAFF approached BOOM to create a poetry & creative communication program between children & staff based on the featured film's content. Our biggest challenge was to create fun & engagement without condescension. The Application BOOM combined theater exercises with teambuilding exercises to create a one of a kind experience where themes from the movies were aligned with issues the children face daily. The result was a room filled with patients rhythmically banging on percussion instruments, walls covered in word spattered flip charts & poetic expressions flying everywhere. A number of excellent poems were produced, distributed & are being archived into an anthology.
