Mack Trucks Inc. & The United Auto Workers The Challenge Mack Trucks is one of the world's leading truck manufacturers and is the most popular heavy-duty off-road truck builder in America. The company was purchased by Reanult in the early 90's and as a result, the Macungie, PA manufacturing plant underwent major transitions in management and processes. The impact of the purchase presented new management with the challenge of changing not only the operations and facility; but also the culture of the workforce, over 700 employees. The Application Robert Galinsky joined Equinox Consulting as part of the team that spent over four months refocusing the company's workforce and transforming a work environment that had gone unchanged for decades. Second, third and fourth generation truck builders became less stressed & happier employees, better suited to deal with extreme changes including: changes in pension & benefit plans, shifts in overtime policies, new demands in work output and union/non-union relationships.
